Hello my name is Dana Martin. I am the 2 year special committee chairperson for PMA. My job is to pick a nonprofit to donate to that goes along with what the Moose stands for.
This year I have picked Nevin’s Hunting Friends. Nevin’s Hunting Friends is a nonprofit 501c3 organization based in Chicora. In 2014 an 8 year old boy with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis had an idea to start a youth hunting group for special needs kids that can’t get into the woods and hunt. He wanted to take them into the woods and give them a hunt of a lifetime. In the fall of 2015 Nevin’s Hunting Friends became a reality. They have even had a quadriplegic in the group. They found a gun that he could shoot with his mouth.
The group has at least 20 kids a year that they do multiple hunts and fishing charters with. Plus each kid gets to pick one out of state hunt a year, example deer, bear, elk, gator. The out of state hunts start at $2,500/kid. That’s $50,000 for just the out of state hunts each year.
Nevins Hunting Friends have to do improvements to the garage building that is going to cost $15,000. They are putting a fence near the road to keep the kids safer from traffic that is going to cost $2,500.
The goal is at least $200.00 from each lodge in the PMA. I am also welcoming any donations from any chapters, districts, moose legions, and moose riders.
You can make checks out to PMA earmarked Nevins Hunting Friends in the memo line and send them to
